T-Mobile US Inc (NASDAQ:TMUS) customers in Singapore whether on a work mission or holiday will get unlimited high-speed data courtesy of Wireless@SG, Singapore’s public Wi-Fi network. The carrier says that those headed to Singapore can count on the 290 Wi-Fi hotspots across the island nation which includes major MRT train stations. The free access to the network begins immediately and will run through to September 21st. Visitors from the United States on the T-Mobile network will also enjoy a similar convenience.
Communication is of the essence because it keeps the world rolling. T-mobile is one of the many communication entities that are striving to enhance interaction for its customers. But it is not doing this alone. This particular deal is part of the many are under trial by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore. It is also part of the Wireless Broadband Alliance City Wi-Fi Roaming Project.
The operation of the Singapore’s Wireless@SG
At the beginning and from any of the 290 hotspots, there must be verification of the SIM through a method known as SIM-login and which is only available for Singapore SIM cards. After that, the users can automatically connect to Wireless@SG from whichever hotspot so long as it is in range. This is, of course, good news particularly for any T-mobile customer who is planning a trip to Singapore between now and next month.
It is no known whether or not there will be any extension of time after the September 21st deadline but cities the likes of San Jose and San Francisco are the most advantaged. Nonetheless, many of the T-mobile subscribers are hopeful that something much better will come along after the trial period.
The trial has also received a boost from Land Transport Authority, Sentosa Development Corporation as well as telcos M1 and Singtel. Nonetheless, IDA assistant chief executive Khoong Hock Yun says that they are optimistic about being able to gather new insights that will help them work out on any future technical challenges. There are literally on a mission to give the foreign visitors/T-mobile’s subscribers a new feel of communication.
